2024 Maastricht University Euregion Refugee Scholarship Guide

Maastricht University is committed to supporting talented students from refugee backgrounds who face challenges in accessing higher education. To address these barriers, the university has established the Euregion Refugee Scholarship program. This initiative provides tuition waivers to assist refugee students from the Meuse-Rhine Euregion who are enrolled in a master’s program at Maastricht University (UM). This scholarship aims to help these students overcome financial obstacles and succeed in their academic endeavors.

Maastricht University Euregion Refugee Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA and currently be a refugee residing in Belgium or Germany.
  • Proof of residence within the Euregion is required.
  • Must agree to a consent form stating that you will not relocate to the Netherlands and will commute to Maastricht University.
  • Must apply for admission to a full-time master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2024-2025 academic year. Note that the programs in Medicine and Physician-Clinical Investigator are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Must meet the specific admission criteria of the UM master’s program to which you are applying.
  • Must not have participated in any degree-seeking higher education program in the Netherlands previously.

Benefits:

  • Partial tuition waiver to cover the difference between statutory and institutional tuition fees:
    • For a €16,000 tuition fee: €13,686 after waiver.
    • For an €18,400 tuition fee: €16,086 after waiver.
  • Statutory tuition fee: €2,314.
  • Pre-academic training costs are borne by the student.

  2. Submit your scholarship application along with the required documents via email. Note that applications can only be submitted once, so ensure all documents are current.
